Nevertheless....I'll Keep It.

Writer's picture: Arlesia FortsonArlesia Fortson

Jesus' was assigned to come to Earth to die for our sins.

The night before he was set to complete this assignment, He prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane:

saying, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.” (NKJV)

Luke 22: 42

In His prayer, Jesus made a request and a declaration.

When His assignment poured a cup of suffering, Jesus requested that the cup pass from Him.

However, His request was immediately followed with a declaration.

That declaration was simple.

Nevertheless.

Nevertheless:

nonetheless; notwithstanding; however; in spite of that.

Jesus declared, "nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done."

God! In spite of that request I made, I want what you want, not what I want.

God! In spite of me requesting the cup to pass from me, I'll keep it, if that is what I need to do, in order to complete the assignment you have given me.

Nevertheless.

We may not have been assigned to sacrifice our lives as Jesus was, however, completing our assignment will cost us something.

It may cost our time.

It may cost our money.

It may cost our comfort.

It may cost our tears.

In spite of that.... God still deserves our "yes!"

He deserves for us to live life in complete devotion to Him.

Like Jesus, we must choose to declare, "nevertheless!"

Nevertheless, I will walk out my calling.

Nevertheless, I will end the generational cycles in my family.

Nevertheless, I will complete my assignment.

Nevertheless, I'll keep it.

I will keep my cup.

Nevertheless, God I will do your will.

Then an angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him.

Luke 22:43

After Jesus made the declaration for God's will to be done, an angel came and strengthened Him.

God is aware of the cost of your assignment.

He is a good Father and is faithful to supply all of our needs, including strength.

He simply desires for us to say yes to His will.

In turn, He will provide the necessary strength to complete all that He has assigned us to do.

Any assignment completed for the kingdom of God is worth the cost, no matter how great.

It's worth it because God thought that we were worth it, when He gave His son Jesus to die for us.

Completing our individual assignments, is our opportunity and responsibility in sharing the message of Jesus Christ.

No one else can complete our assignment. It is our responsibility.

In spite of it all, let us choose to make the declaration.

"Nevertheless, I'll keep it! I'll keep my cup and I will complete my assignment in the Earth, no matter the cost."

God,

My assignment is not always easy. It has and will cost me to complete it. Whatever the cost God, you have my yes! Nevertheless, I gladly accept the assignment you've given me. Thank you for choosing me. Thank you in advance for the strength to complete it.

In Jesus' name,

Amen
